The RSCni Support Programme

Within the context of austerity the role of the RSCni is to assist organisations find new and cost effective ways to deliver their educational services and strategic objectives.  The RSCni provide a range of innovative training programmes throughout the year supporting all levels of staff from within the organisation.  For example, using technologies such as video conferencing, webinars and collaborative platforms for the delivery of training demonstrates best practice in the area of sustainability.

The RSCni have recently complemented their training facilities, upgrading to a new ‘smart board’ and high spec video conferencing unit.  For any queries regarding RSCni training or booking of their facilities please contact Support at: support@rsc-ni.ac.uk

RSCni roadshows

Celebrating its success, the RSCni have begun a series of technology roadshows offering staff the opportunity to gain hands-on experience on the uses of new and emerging teaching and learning technologies.

Annual conference and awards ceremony – 25th April 2012, Queen’s University Belfast, Riddel Hall

The JISC RSCni launched the inaugural Northern Ireland Innovation Awards scheme in the academic year 2011/12 with the aim of promoting and embedding e-learning by identifying, recognising and rewarding the many individuals and teams throughout Northern Ireland who are spearheading the development and effective use of technology to enhance teaching and learning.

The Annual conference and award ceremony will provide a wonderful opportunity for all those involved in e-learning to collectively share in a high-profile celebration, strengthening community bonds and reinforcing the important contribution that everyone involved in information learning technology (ILT) is making to the post-16 education.

However, the aim of the Northern Ireland Innovation Awards scheme is not just to create ‘winners’, but to spotlight the significant amount of effective e-learning practice taking place in our region, much of which often goes unnoticed. Many members of staff do not even realise themselves the progress and innovation that they have achieved.

The Innovation Awards scheme is the perfect vehicle to raise the profile on real and practical examples of effective technology-based teaching and learning. Through the award ceremony itself and all the associated publicity and follow-on events, these exemplars can be widely shared across the education community, thus encouraging others to ‘grasp the nettle of e-learning’, further develop their projects and even have the courage to put their names into the hat for next year’s Innovation Awards eLearning Awards.
