National Museums appoints new Chief Executive

National Museums Northern Ireland (NMNI) has announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive, Kathyrn Thomson.

NMNI consists of the Ulster Museum, Ulster Folk and Transport Museum and the Ulster American Folk Park.

Thomson, who holds a BCom (Hons) degree in Business Studies from the University of Edinburgh, is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Tourism NI and holds a public appointment as Director of the Strategic Investment Board. She will replace acting Chief Executive Jude Helliker on 1 March.

Her main challenge will be allocating resources and finding revenue in a climate of decreasing government funding.
