Seminars

In its third year, the forum will again convene around four seminars on key themes in delivering public services:

New programme and approach

This year there will be two seminars concentrating on specific sectors. ICT in the Criminal Justice sector will feature for the first time. The Forum will also host the ICT in Health seminar – this is an area that will see radical change in the next 12 months as budgets are slashed. As well as a seminar that explores future trends in ICT, the first event of the Forum will focus on innovation in procurement.

This event will focus on expert speakers on eight key ICT themes that will impact on the future of organisations. Areas will include:

  • Where is the cloud going?
  • Big data: the next challenge for innovation?
  • Next generation data security;
  • Trends in social media;
  • United communications technology.

ICT in Health Seminar

ICT in Health Seminar

Date: April 2012
Venue: Venue to be confirmed

This seminar will explore all the issues around the role of technology in helping to deliver health services. In the 21st century the convergence of biology and engineering is turning healthcare into an information industry. Key themes under discussion include:

  • IT-driven innovations in health care;
  • The role of telehealth in managing chronic illness;
  • Supporting and developing new technologies;
  • Patient involvement in healthcare.

Innovation in Public Services Awards

This will be a focused awards ceremony highlighting a small number of high quality projects where ICT has been applied to deliver better public services. In keeping with the ethos of the forum it will not be another black-tie dinner event with a long list of award categories, rather a short lunch-time event with a small number of meaningful awards.
