ICT Procurement Seminar
The Northern Ireland ICT Innovation Forum is a network of organisations that are involved in
using ICT to deliver public services. The Forum's primary aim is to act as a network facilitator
and, by developing a high level and forward thinking seminar programme, bring a focus to best
practice within the sector.
The first seminar of the 2011/2012 programme will examine all the issues around ICT procurement in the public sector. The UK public sector spends some £220 billion a year on goods and services. In the current economic climate, it is essential that the sector is able to deliver improved public services while getting the best value for money from its spend. Smart public procurement can not only reduce costs, but it can encourage the development of new technologies and innovative solutions from business.
Key themes under discussion in the seminar include:
- How to deliver IT on a reducing budget;
- Smart procurement for the smart economy;
- Adopting the right approach to minimise duplication and waste;
- How can we ensure ICT supports efficient public services?
- How cloud computing is impacting on the procurement process;
- Legal developments in ICT procurement;
- New models for delivering ICT projects;
- Shared procurement and the use of ICT;
- Why is ICT procurement different?
An expert speaker panel has been assembled to explore all these issues. In addition to presentations, there will also be a discussion session where delegates will be able to ask questions and engage with speakers.
Networking
The seminar is structured in a way to provide a high level of interaction between speakers and delegates. There will be plentiful opportunities for questions as well as discussion in each of the sessions. In the breaks and margins of the event there will also be scope for networking and business development.
