£9.5 million environmental resource park for Belfast

An environmental resource park is to be established at Giant’s Park in North Belfast on ground owned by the city council.

The £9.5million investment, spanning 65 acres of Belfast Lough’s northern foreshore, is due to attract local, national and international investors to the area. Enterprise Minister Jonathan Bell said: “Bringing together companies working in renewable energy, recycling and other environmental technologies the environmental resource park will develop an innovative cleantech business cluster, the first of its kind here.

“This has the potential to make Northern Ireland a world leader in investment in green technology and attract further opportunities.” It is hoped that 400 jobs will be created as a result of the project, which is funded by Belfast City Council, Invest Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund.
